Where I learned,
My University
I have been working with ceramics since 2006. It was then when I first went to my amazing teacher, Antonis Atsonios, at a secluded beach in Sifnos. His pottery studio is a 4 generations old stone building, right by the sea.
It was there, in the pure silence and the wild beauty, that I learned how to throw the clay and what working with it was all about. I stayed there for 4 months, working 14 hours a day, loving every single minute of it.
The techniques I use have remained unchanged since the first ever pots were formed, electricity being the only addition. The moves have not changed, the heart and feelings have not changed, the love is always there. You need a lot of love and passion to be able to do this kind of skilled hard work.
Since then, many years have passed, my work has progressed, stoneware and porcelain have been added as mediums, jewelry too, but my love for clay is ceaseless .
In the summer of 2018, my teacher fired his very old, 2 tier kiln after more than 2 decades of dormancy . It was a time for celebration and gathering, and a unique moment. Here are some images to share with you. Hope you enjoy the love.
